Spell for Knowing is a music video and manifesto envisioning an intergenerational passing on of knowledge with archetypes played by elders and children. An Elder Goddess, the activist La mesha Irizarry, passes on her knowledge in the form of breast milk, while a youth Deity dances intergalactically throughout time and space. Other characters in the film include a Star Deity and Heart Goddess.
My intent is to create an envisioning tool in the form of a queer femme fairytale, one that highlights the internal journey of giving and receiving wisdom both personally and collectively.
The song Spell for Knowing is recorded and produced by Dorothy Wang.
A sister video to Spell for Knowing, the karaoke version of this manifesto invites the viewer to participate by singing a spell...for knowing.
An incantation spell set to music. A prison abolition anthem. A prophetic chant and an envisioning tool. Prophecy is an invocation for a beginning and an end.
The song Prophecy is recorded and produced by Dorothy Wang.
A music video and hypnotic collage comparing geologic to social change. This rhythmic chant is a manifesto in its own lexicon, imagining humanity in a state of Primordial Stew, while moving toward a Great Undoing. Time is considered in epochs and millenia.
A visual poem.
